We were planning on leaving on Saturday, November 19th. That's not happening. Not because we couldn't have made it happen. But because we chose not to pressurize the last few days we had here. We chose it because we could choose it. One of the things we are looking forward to most about this time is that we are not on anyone's schedule but our own.
We are ruthlessly eliminating hurry and putting a high value on margin. Instead of putting pressure on ourselves (and consequently the kids) to leave tomorrow as we had planned, we instead were able to have a productive day and enjoy a memorable time with my parents this afternoon.
(I love the random kid smiling in the background.)
Sometimes hurry is necessary. Most of the time it isn't. As excited as we are to begin this adventure, beginning with a Shabbat rest seems the most fitting.
The campground will still be there on Sunday.
