After the short visit to Roswell, NM we arrived at an RV Park near Carlsbad Caverns, NM. I'm not going to give the name of the park as I don't want to disparage it unnecessarily. Let's just say we were expecting more. We were supposed to be there for a week but it was a gravel parking lot next to a busy road with no playground and an indoor pool that was closed for repairs.

So we changed our stay to two nights, giving us a day to explore Carlsbad Caverns. We then extended our next stay which (spoiler alert) turned out to be an amazing thing!

Carlsbad Caverns more than made up for the lackluster RV campground. They were amazing. We chose to hike into the caverns - over a mile trail meandering to the bottom of the cavern.

It was unreal.

Pictures don't do it justice but all of the people who said it was a must-see were not exaggerating. By the end of the day we were all tired but it was worth it.

*We also were able to see a while herd of some kind of goat or sheep or whatever it was. The ranger told us and I forgot.
