Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! We're behind a bit on updates as to where we are and what we've done. It's been an incredible year. We finished our initial quest of touching the Atlantic Ocean and then the Pacific Ocean. It was a foggy morning and lacked a sudden wow factor but it was beautiful regardless.
We surprised the kids with a stay at Legoland California! They didn't realize we were here to stay until we were in the room. They thought we were viewing a demo room. (Those are real things, right?) The delight on their faces was what we were hoping for. But we enjoy it even more because of who they are. These same kids also delighted in Elk City's Christmas lights and a meteor crater and snow at the Grand Canyon and line dancing in Salome, AZ (post to come!). Josh and I enjoy the quiet and natural more than the loud and artificial but there is room for both in this wild adventure.
Standing at the opposite end of the continent, marveling at the beautiful southern California shoreline, we felt incredibly grateful for the experiences of the last six weeks. Really the last six months. Ok, more like the last eleven years. No, more. It's easier to see God's leading when you look backward. It is crazy to us how many small decisions were actually big deciders in guiding our way. To love who you are, who you're with, and where you're standing is a heady and humbling feeling. We don't take it for granted.
This whole process has been on a "just the next step" timeline. The next steps in front of us are ones we couldn't have foreseen when we started out. We will share more as time goes on but we are very excited for the future.
I've rambled and I know it. I'm too exhausted and exhilarated to try to form my thoughts any clearer. But as we haven't let a Christmas go by without sending a card and a letter I knew I wanted to keep that going.
We love you and our prayer is that you also know the incredible feeling of knowing you're loved: by God, by others, and even by yourself.
